Maddie's Smile

Little Maddie has such a beautiful smile. From the first click of my camera she was putting on a show, with big silly grins and bright, happy eyes. She loved wearing the fancy beads, and got very silly when we sang a few songs together.
Then we brought out the cake, and instead of seeing Maddie's smile, we got to see Maddie's pout. Maddie does not like to get dirty, and the frosting on her fingers pushed her over the edge! My kiddos joined in on the fun and were able to distract her a bit and get a few smiles, but Maddie had her mind made up that was NOT going near that cake!
Take a look at this beautiful smile!

Model Behavior

I'm going to be honest with you, I was nervous about this session.
A 6-month-old baby who isn't quite yet sitting unassisted, and a few pictures of baby with his parents. Sounds easy, right? Sometimes this age can be tricky because the baby is old enough to voice his or her opinion about being propped, positioned, and dressed-up for an hour. Also before a baby can sit independently, we are limited with the poses and sets we can try.
Well this little guy showed model behavior. He was all smiles for more than an hour, put up with lots of outfit changes and didn't seem to mind when we kept switching his position, either. Sitting, laying on his back or belly, relaxing with mom and dad... none of it seemed to phase him.
and let's face it, I don't think this handsome guy can take a bad picture. With big beautiful eyes, creamy skin, and a sweet smile to match his sweet disposition, he was a photographer's dream.

Here are some of my favorite images from our fun session...

Lovely Fiona

I know I've said it before, but there are lots of perks to this job.
First off, it's so much fun, and with each session I learn something new.
I think what I like best, though, is getting to meet so many wonderful families and sweet babies.
This little princess was such a blast to photograph. She started off super stoic and was hiding her smiles, but with such big, beautiful eyes and creamy skin, even her serious face makes for an adorable picture.
We played around with fancy dresses, big flower headbands, and beads, then let her dig in to her delicious (and beautiful) cake!

Here are some of my favorite images of lovely Fiona.

Time Flies

I've had the pleasure of knowing this handsome little guy since he was just a couple of months old, and you might recognize his big blue eyes from a few different sessions over the past year.
This session was very special in that we were celebrating his first birthday!
We started with some sweet family pictures outside, headed to the studio for a few formal portraits of the birthday boy, then let him dig in to his very own giant cupcake cake!
I love that with each smash session I get to see so much personality from the baby. This handsome boy, who was crawling all over when we wanted him to sit still, did not move so much as an inch once we sat him down in front of the cake.

Say "Happy Birthday" to Jason!

Mr. Blue Eyes

There are three super adorable features I love about babies, and this handsome guy has all three... soft, creamy skin, chubby baby rolls, and big sparkly eyes! (and let's not overlook his cute little grin!)
This birthday boy was ready for his 1-year portraits, and brought along a few snazzy outfits and his favorite fire truck.  Mom and dad were less then confident that he would smile for us (especially since he was recovering from pneumonia...), but he did a wonderful job!
We played for a while with trucks, trains, and bikes, then switched gears and let him dig into his cake. And little Gavin did not let us down in the 'get messy' department!

and of course I included a few collages and storyboards to display some of my favorite shots.
