Lovely Lucy

I was so excited when little Lucy's mom asked to schedule a session with Piggy Toes for her 2-year portraits. Lucy is such a sweet girl, with one of the biggest personalities I've seen in a toddler! I had so much fun with her during the session, and also was glad to do some catching-up with her mom and meet her dad.
Lucy has lots of fun reading, playing, running, and being a kid, but she isn't afraid to show her emotions if she doesn't want to do something! I loved hearing her sweet little voice, too, when she kept asking for "pop pop", aka lollipop, and when she was being silly playing with her parents.
She certainly made me work for the shots I got, but I think we did a pretty good at capturing her personality!

Fun with processing... and my sweet babies.

It's a rare occasion, but sometimes the kids ask if I'll take their picture. When they do, I jump at the opportunity. Of course I see them through 'mommy goggles', but think that every picture with my babies in it is 'picture perfect'.
I usually prefer simple, clean processing to my images, but for this set I decided to have a little fun and put a little vintage flair on the processing.

What do ya think?

and I thought you might enjoy this little outtake!

Happy Faces

One of the perks of this little business of mine is getting to meet and spend time with lots of wonderful families.  For most sessions it's mom and baby, but I have also had the pleasure of meetings lots of dads and grandmas, too (though never a grandpa!). Some of my favorite sessions are those with two or more little ones because I love seeing how they interact with each other.
This whole gang came for this session... mom, dad, baby brother, and big sister. The kids were super sweet and very well behaved, and mom and dad did a great job at making the kids smile and laugh.
We started with some standard portraits for the birthday boy and his big sister, and ended with a messy Smash!

Take a look!

Baby's First Easter

This pretty baby girl came to Piggy Toes for baby portraits when she was about four months old, and I had the pleasure of photographing her again to celebrate her first Easter.
She gave us lots of sweet smiles and giggle faces (between yells and screams!), and looked so adorable in her fancy Easter dress.
I think my favorite part of our session was pretending she was a bunny, complete with fuzzy white ears and a big ol' carrot!

Take a look at this cute little bunny...

Sweet as Sugar

There is something special about celebrating all of the 'firsts' in baby's first year, and baby's first birthday is probably the most exciting for parents. This pretty little baby girl was all ready for her first birthday. Her mom came prepared for our session with a few super sweet outfits, a fancy tutu, and a birthday bib and hat that were just the cutest.
In addition to her awesome attire and giant cupcake cake (made by mom herself!), they also brought along grandma, who helped keep this sweet baby girl giggling and smiling throughout the session.
... and don't let the fancy clothes and sweet smile fool you, this little lady was not afraid to get messy when it came to smashing her cake!

Here are some of my favorites from our session.

Happy Birthday, dear Sera!

It's still hard for me to believe that this sweet baby girl is getting ready to celebrate her first birthday.
I've had the pleasure of photographing her beautiful blue eyes many times over the past year, and she is always such a perfect little model.
For this session, she came prepared with her special birthday outfit... a coordinated tutu and headband (made by the super talented Bethany at Blossom Bands!). I was also glad to see that mom had brought along a yummy cake to smash, and baby's grandma to help generate some smiles and keep an eye on the zoo of toddlers we had running around!

Happy Birthday, pretty girl!

Awaiting Grayson

This happy couple came to Piggy Toes for a maternity session more than 4 weeks before sweet baby Grayson was scheduled to arrive (little did we know that he was going to join the world less than 48 hours later...!).
We started with some studio shots of the beautiful mommy-to-be and her perfect little baby belly, then headed outside to take advantage of the wonderful warm spring air.
There is something very special about a couple expecting (and welcoming!) their first child, and I'm very glad that I was able to capture these memories for the family.
